Painting!

Who knew that painting could be SO exhausting? We are currently in the process of repainting our kitchen. It was a horrible combination of periwinkle blue and a sort of peachy yellow.

Not too pretty. It took me forever to prime, but I finally finished with the help of Adam & Cyrus. The previous inhabitants had painted everything, including the cabinets, so we discovered how painstakingly slow it is to paint inside and outside of cabinets!

Today I got most of the painting done. It took me 2 hours to finish putting up painter's tape. YIKES!! And after that I got one coat of gray on all the walls. Cyrus helped out by doing all the corners that I couldn't reach. Yay! I decided to paint the entire kitchen gray with white trim. It looks pretty gorgeous, in my opinion, but I'll let you all voice your own opinions! :)

Tomorrow I hope to get another coat on the walls and finish painting all the windowsills. I will try to keep this blog updated more often!! Keep checking back, and thanks for reading!

Moving Day!

My family came down for the Spring game on April 18, which was a ton of fun. We hope the Huskers will do well this year!!!
Afterward, we began the moving process and worked on some more cleaning which was not as much fun, haha. Adam's family came down that evening to help out, and of course we had good ol' Cyrus too.

Everyone spent the night in Lincoln, and then the real moving began on Sunday after a nice big brunch that Cyrus, Amy, and I cooked at me and Adam's apartment. It was a great way to start out the day.
In the end we got a lot accomplished, and we took the next few days off to relax!

Cleaning

We spent a few weekends getting ready for the big move just cleaning and prepping the house. Here are a few pictures!Adam with a potential asbestos sample. The test came back negative. Woo Hoo!!!

Here is Cyrus with a huge clog that the boys pulled out of the tub plumbing.

And here's one of me scrubbing the walls in our closet.

Shiny floors in our bedroom!

The Beginning

Welcome to our blog! We are so excited to share our renovation journey with you!

Here are some tidbits of information about our new home.
  • It was built by George A. Berlinghof who also designed Lincoln High School, the Seward County Courthouse, and the Miller and Paine building in downtown Lincoln, amongst many others.
  • It has over 4000 sq. ft. (including the unfinished basement and attic)
  • It is currently divided into 2 separate units (the first floor and basement & the 2nd floor and attic)
  • We have a "pet" squirrel living in one of the attic crawl spaces. Yikes!
We closed on the house on March 30, and started working on our renovations immediately! Stay tuned for pictures as we continue to forge ahead into our many projects!
